Virtual gifts

What’s a “virtual gift?”

A “virtual gift” is digital. When you purchase one, your gift recipient will get a beautiful e-card exclusively designed for the David Suzuki Foundation by an artist in Canada. You can include your personalized message. You’ll support climate action and species protection work you care about. And you’ll get a tax receipt.

Do I get a tax receipt?

Yes. Since your purchase of a virtual gift is a donation, you’ll get a tax receipt.

How does this virtual gift catalogue work?

You pick the gift you want to send, fill in the gift recipient’s name and email address, and provide your credit card or debit card information. You’ll also be able to include your personal message with your gift. We’ll notify your recipient that you’ve sent them a gift. They’ll get a beautiful e-card. And we’ll send you a tax receipt.

Can you tell me more about the artists featured in your store?

The artists featured on our virtual gift e-cards are Alexandra Finkeldey, Camille ForcherioAmbre GiovanniSarah LazarovicCrystal Smith and Laura Timmermans. Their designs in our store are exclusive to the David Suzuki Foundation. You won’t see them anywhere else.

How do you determine prices?

Items sold here are part of our annual fundraising effort. Through our years of experience, we’ve chosen price points accessible to many people that will maximize the vital funds we need for our work.

How does the David Suzuki Foundation use sale proceeds?

Your purchase will support all the important projects and campaigns we undertake throughout the year, including:

  1. Climate solutions — We CAN overcome the climate crisis and create a promising future for all. Let’s work together to reduce greenhouse gas pollution, shift from fossil fuels to affordable, secure renewable energy and push Canada to act with ambition and urgency.
  2. Thriving nature — Nature is everywhere, and we’re all part of it. When it flourishes, we thrive — but there are limits to what it can support. Let’s respect, protect and restore nature so it can sustain all life.
  3. Sustainable communities — When we value connections to each other and nature, we all live better. Let’s reimagine communities to increase wellbeing and build vibrant, resilient societies that benefit everyone.

Greeting cards

You’re an environmental organization. Why are you selling paper cards?

Many people enjoy the connection made with a physical card sent through the mail or hand-delivered. Our paper cards and envelopes have the smallest ecological footprint possible. They’re produced by local vendors using FSC-approved, 100 per cent post-consumer recycled fibre. And we only buy from suppliers that use environmentally sensitive methods and materials.

Where are your cards made?

Our cards are printed in New Westminster and Vancouver, B.C.

I like certain designs in the different sets. Can I mix and match?

Sorry, no. The cards are prepackaged so you can’t create a custom pack.

Can I buy a single card/fewer cards?

Sorry, no. The cards are prepackaged and only sold in sets of eight, 12 or 16. This helps us save on printing and administration costs, and ensures that more of your money goes directly to the work you want to support.

Where can I learn more about artists featured on your cards?

The artists featured on our greeting cards are Alexandra FinkeldeyCamille ForcherioAmbre Giovanni and Crystal Smith.

When will my cards be mailed?

Cards are shipped twice weekly beginning at the end of October.
